Garbage Hauler License

Overview


Per Section 16-31 of the Chanhassen City Code, "No person shall haul mixed municipal solid waste or recyclables collected in the city without first securing a license from the city."

Licenses shall be valid for one calendar year and shall expire on December 31 of each year unless revoked sooner.

Monthly Recycling Report


According to Section 16-33 (5) of the Chanhassen City Code, a monthly recycling report must be submitted by the 20th day of each month for the prior month.

The report is required of all haulers who collect recyclables, yard waste, and/or organics. This report must be submitted online at Recycling Report or by clicking on the button on the right (view list of required information).

Residential Collection Requirements


If you provide service to residences, including apartments, you must provide recycling containers, as well as weekly or bi-weekly curbside collection of recyclable material.

Commercial Collection Requirements


Per state regulations, all buildings that contract for four (4) cubic yards or more of trash per week must be recycling at least three (3) materials, effective January 1, 2016.
