The City Council approved the bids and awarded the construction contract for the 2021 City Pavement Rehabilitation Project to Northwest Asphalt, Inc. at the council meeting last night. The Final Assessment Roll was also adopted. City staff will hold a pre-construction meeting with the contractor later this week to work out details regarding the preliminary construction schedule. Construction is expected to start in early May. An Open House meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Chanhassen Recreation Center. At this meeting you will have the opportunity to review the project design and construction details and ask questions related to the project and the proposed assessment. This will be an informal meeting with no presentation so please feel free to join us at any time during the meeting.

Progress is being made to restart this project for the 2021 construction season. A revised feasibility study will be presented to City Council on January 11, 2021.

In light of recent state funding losses stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and out of concern for the potential negative economic impact assessments might have on some Chanhassen residents, the City Council voted Monday night to postpone planned road construction projects for 2021 and beyond and reassess at a later time.

The formal adoption of the Assessment Roll and the Award of the Construction Contract for this project was tabled by the City Council at their July 13 meeting for 2 weeks. The Council will revisit the decision to move forward at their July 27 meeting after they and staff use additional time to discuss in more detail the overall Street Improvement Program and the impacted project budgets. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay causes.

An open house meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 4:30-6:00pm at the Al Klingelhutz Memorial Pavilion, Lake Ann Park, 1456 West 78th Street in Chanhassen. At this meeting you will have an opportunity to review the project design and learn of some construction details. You will be able to ask questions related to the project including anything related to the assessments. This will be an informal meeting without a specific presentation; please feel free to join us at any time during the meeting’s time slot.
In keeping with the City’s response to the Covid-19 guidelines, we have chosen to host the meeting at an outdoor venue. City staff will be wearing masks and we encourage you to wear them as well, but they are not required in order to attend the meeting. Please be cognizant of social distancing throughout the meeting. We unfortunately are unable to provide any refreshments.

This project is currently in the bidding phase. Once bids are received and opened, Council will call for a Public Hearing. During that hearing, Council can accept the bids and award the contract. After contract documents are signed, construction can begin.
