Tree Lighting Ceremony

When: Saturday, December 4 at 5:00 p.m.

Event Information: Community members of all ages are welcome to join us at City Center Plaza to take part in the annual tree lighting ceremony, where Councilwoman Haley Schubert will flip the ceremonial switch and light up our downtown park! There will be bonfires, refreshments, carolers, live reindeer, a gingerbread house display, a Toys for Tots donation station, and a special visit from Santa. After the switch is flipped and you have enjoyed the activities, hop in your vehicle and take a drive through the Chanhassen Tour of Lights!

Cost: Free!

Chanhassen Tour of Lights

When: December 4 – 31, 5-8 p.m.

Event information: Our goal with the Tour of Lights is to create a beautiful driving or walking tour of residential holiday light displays throughout our city, and we need your help! Homes displaying holiday lights sign up to help us create this tour through Chanhassen for all to enjoy. Simply click on the map link below for a list of houses on the light tour. All registered homes will be entered to win our holiday prize pack!

Who: YOU! All homes in Chanhassen are eligible to register their home display for this month-long event.

Holiday Boutique

When: Saturday, December 4, 10 a.m-2 p.m.

Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

When: Submissions accepted November 30 – December 2, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Event Information: Gather your supplies and have fun decorating a gingerbread house in this all-ages contest! Prizes will be awarded for the most difficult and most creative houses. Submissions are accepted November 30 – December 2 at Chanhassen City Hall (7700 Market Blvd.) from 8:00 am.-4:30 p.m.; $5 per entry. Winners will be contacted directly, and all gingerbread houses will be displayed at the December 4th Tree Lighting Ceremony. Houses will be available for pickup (if desired) on Monday, December 6th. Phone Call from Santa

When: Calls made Thursday, December 9 from 6-8 p.m. 

Event Information: After registering your child, wait for a “surprise” phone call from the North Pole! To register, complete the form linked here (one per child please). Forms can be returned or mailed to Chanhassen City Hall (7700 Market Blvd.) or the Chanhassen Recreation Center (2310 Coulter Blvd.). Forms MUST be received by Friday, December 3 for calls to be made. 

Cost: $2 residents, $3 non-residents. Cash or check only.
