Each year, the city invites local 5th grade students to participate in the Arbor Day Poster Contest. Based on a new annual theme, the posters are submitted by the schools and the winner is chosen by the Environmental Commission and approved by the City Council.
The winner and honorable mentions are presented with their awards at the last City Council meeting in April.
Chanhassen 5th graders are welcome to submit a poster. Posters should exemplify the theme "Trees are Terrific...For Bees and Butterflies!" and can be made in marker, crayon, watercolor, ink, acrylic, colored pencil or tempura paint and may not be larger than 11x17. The student's name and contact information should be written on the back of the drawing. The deadline to enter posters is 4:30 pm, Friday, March 17, 2017.
