  4. Why?

Phosphorus is a major source of water pollution that causes excessive growth of algae and depletes oxygen needed for fish and native plants. Impervious surfaces, such as city streets and parking lots, provide a pathway for phosphorus to get to local lakes, rivers and streams. Phosphorus on streets comes from decaying organic matter such as leaves, branches and loose dirt. Fall is one of the peak periods for introduction of phosphorus from city streets into local waters.

  5. What to bring?

Brooms, shovels, rakes, and wagons or wheelbarrows to haul any larger debris.

  6. What is provided?

Lawn and leaf bags, trash bags, and gloves.

  7. Where are the clean-up sites?

The following Chanhassen streets have been designated for clean up:

    • Carver Beach Road between Creek Drive and Broken Arrow Drive
    • Dakota Lane between Marsh Drive and Erie/Cheyenne Avenue
    • Lake Riley Boulevard
    • Shore Drive between Greenbriar Avenue and Cypress Drive
    • Stone Creek Drive between Creekview Court and Stone Creek Court

  8. Where do we meet?

A designated group leader will meet volunteers at the cleanup site (see location map for meeting location) promptly at 9:30 am. Supplies will be distributed as well as instructions.

  9. Are you or your group able to volunteer on the rain date of October 28?*
