Native Vegetation
Overview
The root structures of native plants increase in strength over time while other more traditional hard armor techniques tend to decrease in strength over time. In addition to stabilizing the shoreline, native pants offer other benefits to the ecosystem. They create habitat for birds, insects and amphibians. Shrubs provide nesting sites and food for birds. Fish use the cover and shade provided by the plants near the water’s edge.
