Environmental Commission
The purpose and responsibility of the Environmental Commission is to provide the residents of Chanhassen with opportunities to improve the quality of their environment, address issues that affect the city's natural resources, provide environmental education to the public, bring a comprehensive perspective to environmental issues, and advocate the benefits and necessity of Chanhassen's natural resources.
Park and Recreation Commission
The Park & Recreation Commission acts as an advisory board to the City Council, reviewing all recreation, leisure and park-related issues.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission prepares and maintains the Comprehensive Plan for the City and advises the City Council on matters regarding implementation of the plan. The Commission also conducts public hearings and makes recommendations to the City Council on proposed changes affecting zoning and land uses within the City, considers site plan reviews, conditional use permits, variances, and special studies.
Senior Commission
The Senior Commission examines the needs of senior citizens in the community. They review issues such as housing, information and referral services, transportation, senior center operations.
SouthWest Transit Commission
This seven-member Commission is responsible for the oversight of SouthWest Transit. The Commission is composed of one elected official and one appointed citizen from each city (Chanhassen, Chaska & Eden Prairie), each serving a three-year term, and one rider representative serving a two-year term.
