Planning Commission
The Planning Commission prepares and maintains the Comprehensive Plan for the City and advises the City Council on matters regarding implementation of the plan. The Commission also conducts public hearings and makes recommendations to the City Council on proposed changes affecting zoning and land uses within the City, considers site plan reviews, conditional use permits, variances, and special studies (for example the Bluff Creek Overlay District and the Highway 5 Corridor Study). The Planning Commission forwards information gathered from these public hearings, along with their own recommendations, to the City Council for final action.
The Planning Commission consists of seven residents appointed by the City Council to three-year staggered terms. Members of the Planning Commission include: Chair Debbie Larson, Vice Chair Denny Laufenburger, Kathleen Thomas, Mark Undestad, Dan Keefe, Kevin Dillon, and Tom Doll. Kate Aanenson, Community Development Director, is the staff contact for the Planning Commission. Kate may be reached at City Hall, 7700 Market Boulevard, P.O. Box 147, Chanhassen, MN 55317 or by calling 952-227-1139 or by email at kaanenson@ci.chanhassen.mn.us.
The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. All of their meetings are open to the public and are broadcast live on Cable Channel 8. Rebroadcasts of the meetings may be seen on Mondays at 9 a.m., Thursdays at 1 p.m., and Saturdays at 9 a.m. on Channel 8.
