Economic Development Authority
The Chanhassen Economic Development Authority (EDA) is a local government agency for the City of Chanhassen. The purpose of this agency is to redevelop the blighted areas of downtown Chanhassen, encourage new commercial and service-oriented businesses to locate in the central business district, expand industrial development in Chanhassen Lakes Business Park which in turn will enhance employment opportunities, and expand the city's tax base. The EDA has also provided alternative publicly assisted rental housing opportunities for both the senior citizens and moderate-income families. The efforts of this agency over the past 19 years has resulted in approximately $35 million of commercial developments, $60 million in industrial development, approximately 8,000 new jobs, and added over 200 units of alternative rental housing opportunities.
The agency has played a vital role in assisting with the funding of over $60 million worth of public improvement projects (roads, storm sewer, watermains, etc.). Members of the Economic Development Authority are:
- Tom Furlong
- Bethany Tjornhom
- Vicki Ernst
