Election Day Registration

If you are not registered to vote or need to update your registration information, you may do so at your polling location on Election Day. However, you are required to provide proof of residence when registering on Election Day. You must bring ONE of the following to verify your residence:
  • A valid Minnesota Driver’s License, Learner’s Permit, Minnesota Identification Card, or receipt for any of these containing a valid address in the precinct.
  • A student ID card that includes your photo, if your college provided a student housing list to election officials.
  • A Tribal ID card that contains your name, current address, signature and photo (tribe must be recognized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs [BIA])
  • A valid registration in the same precinct under a different name or address.
  • A notice of late registration mailed by the Carver County Taxpayer Services Department within the two weeks prior to the election, showing your address in the precinct. If you received this notice, follow all the instructions.
  • Vouching: A voter registered in your precinct who will confirm your address with a signed oath at your polling place.
  • Vouching: An authorized employee of a residential facility (nursing home, group home, etc.) where you reside who will confirm your address at your polling place. The residential facility must provide a list of employees to election officials.
