Open Book Process for Property Valuation Appeals
The City of Chanhassen utilizes the Open Book process to provide assessment appeal services rather than through the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization. The Open Book process consists of meeting with a staff person from the Carver County Assessor's office to review the valuation. Chanhassen residents who are interested in learning more about their property's valuation or appealing that valuation should plan to meet with the Carver County Assessor's office.
Summary of appeals process:
- Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Statements are mailed from Carver County by March 31st.
- Appeal by attending an Open Book Meeting the week of April 19-23, 2010. The Carver County Assessor's office has designated the week of April 19-23, 2010 for conducting open book meetings. The Assessor's office is located at 600 E. Fourth St. in Chaska, MN. Appointments can be made by calling (952) 361-1961. Walk-ins are also acceptable.
- Appeal to the Carver County Board of Appeal and Equalization on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.
- Appeal to the Minnesota Tax Court.
