Community Events

Chanhassen takes great pride in promoting "community" through our special events. With the generous support of area businesses, the City hosts four marquee special events annually. The events are February Festival, Easter Egg Candy Hunt, 4th of July Celebration, and Halloween Party. In addition to these marquee events, the City is excited bring you ChanJam, KleinBank Summer Concert Series, Dave Huffman 5K Memorial Run, and the Tree Lighting Ceremony. The following information is provided to better acquaint you with each individual event:

Chanhassen's Marquee Events

February Festival is held each year on the first Saturday of February on Lake Ann. In 2010 it will be held on February 6th from 1-3pm at Lake Ann Park. With over 800 fishing holes drilled in the ice on Lake Ann, this event is great for the whole family this winter. Activities at the event include open ice skating, a s'mores cookout on a roaring bonfire, bingo, horse-drawn hayride (weather permitting), a raffle, food concessions, and of course the ever popular ice fishing contest! This one-day event draws 1,500-2,000 participants and spectators.

The Easter Egg Candy Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Chanhassen Recreation Center. We have been celebrating this event for over 25 years in Chanhassen. Over 900 children, ages 12 and under, and their parents attend this annual event. The program includes live entertainment, a coloring contest, the candy hunt, and an appearance from the Easter Bunny.

This is Chanhassen's premier community event! After celebrating our 25th anniversary in spectacular fashion with more rides, more music, and more fireworks, we look forward to many celebrations to come. This celebration is a year-round topic of conversation in the community and participation levels top 3,000 persons per day, with over 10,000 people participating in the parade and fireworks. Commemorative t-shirts are available to the public for purchase to remember each year's celebration. This two-day celebration is held annually on July 3rd and 4th. Featured activities for the event include carnival rides, food concessions and beer garden, a street dance on July 3rd, a kiddie parade, community parade, carnival games and activities, tons of live music, adult and children's fishing contest, the Chamber of Commerce Business Fair, and of course the spectacular fireworks display over Lake Ann on July 4th. All events on July 3rd are held in City Center Park (north of City Hall). July 4th events are held at Lake Ann Park and City Center Park.

The City of Chanhassen is proud to present the KleinBank Summer Concert Series. The summer of 2009 will mark the fifth anniversary of this series. We feature eight entertaining musical shows, from jazz to bluegrass, and kids entertainment to folk rock. We offer a wide variety of genres of music for all ages. All concerts are FREE and are held at City Center Park Plaza on Thursdays, from early June to early August. Most concerts are evening shows; however, some are held over the lunch hour. Most concerts will have a food vendor making snacks and drinks available for purchase.
