Rink Flooding Policy
Outdoor skating rinks are flooded and open to the public from approximately December 18 through February 21 (weather permitting). In recent years weather has not always cooperated when it comes to flooding skating rinks. As a result, the following is the City of Chanhassen's policy to determine calendar dates of when it is and isn't appropriate to flood rinks: If skating rinks can be opened on January 10 or before, all rinks will be flooded. The season will be cancelled if rinks are not opened by January 11.

Warming houses are located at City Center Park, North Lotus Lake Park, the Recreation Center, and Roundhouse Park*. Warming house hours are shown below. *NOTE: Roundhouse Park warming house will only be open Saturdays & Sundays and December 28-January 1 (see below).

Rink Closings
The following guidelines will be used to determine outdoor rink closures:
- When temperatures soften the ice.
- When actual or windchill temperatures reach -15 degrees or colder.
- If more than 1 inch of snow accumulates on the ice when maintenance crews are not available.

Skating Lessons
Learn to ice skate like a true Minnesotan, outside in our parks! You'll learn the basics in a safe and fun environment right after school. Participants must bring their own skates. Classes are subject to availability of rinks based on weather. Space is limited so register early.

Dance Party on Ice
Join us for some frosty fun with this fun winter program! The Chanhassen Recreation Center Hockey Rinks transform into a frozen dance floor. There will be a live DJ to provide music while you and your friends skate to your favorite hits. We will have warm beverages and treats in the warming house when you need to warm up. Parents welcome. No skate rental is available.
