Snowmobile Operation in Chanhassen
There are no trails in Chanhassen where snowmobiling is allowed. It is unlawful to operate a snowmobile on:
- Public sidewalks, walkways, or boulevards provided or used for pedestrian travel;
- Private property of another without consent of the owner;
- Any public or private school grounds, including but not limited to park property, playgrounds, recreational areas, and golf courses. You cannot ride in any Chanhassen parks.
It is also unlawful to:
- Tow any person or thing on any public street or highway;
- Drive at a speed greater than 10 mph within 100 feet of any lakeshore, fisherman/fish house, sliding area, or skating rink when in use;
- Operate a snowmobile in Chanhassen between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am.
So where can you ride your snowmobile in Chanhassen? You can ride on your own property, on other private property with the owner's permission, or you can trailer your snowmobile to a lake's public access and ride on the lake. There are also snowmobile trails in western Carver County.
