Utility and Surface Water Management Fees
Water and Sewer Hook-Up Fees
On December 12, 2011, the Chanhassen City Council established the following water and sewer hook-up fees:
Residential Development - The hook-up fees are collected at two points in the development process: Approximately one-third of the cost is paid when the land is platted or subdivided, and the remainder is paid when the building permit is pulled. Property that was platted before 2007 will pay the hook-up fee with the building permit. If platted after 2007, 30% of the hook-up fees will be paid at the time of subdivision approval. The remaining 70% will be paid with the building permit.

Surface Water Management Fees
The SWMP fees are collected when land is subdivided for development. Fees are based on developable land. Undeveloped area such as wetlands and public parks, and existing development are exempt from the fees.
Property owners pay both a water quality fee and a water quantity fee. Credits reducing the fees are available for providing on-site storm water ponds and outlet structures. Property owners should consult with the City Engineering Department to determine the fee for their particular site.
The current fee schedule is below. It states fees prior to any reductions.
