Water Use/Sprinkling Restrictions
Water Use/Sprinkling Restrictions
According to Section 19-28 of the Chanhassen City Code, use of the city water supply system for lawn and garden sprinkling, irrigation, car washing or other non-potable uses shall be limited to an odd-even schedule corresponding to property address effective each year from May 1 to September 30.
The odd/even schedule is defined as follows:
If your property address ends in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6 or 8), then you may sprinkle on even days of the month (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.).
If your property address ends in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9), you may sprinkle on odd days of the month (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.).
The restrictions apply only to the use of municipal water. Private wells and alternate water sources are exempt from the restrictions.
Permits for daily watering of new sod (14 days) and seed (21 days) can be obtained from the Engineering Department at no cost. If it is determined that a shortage of the water supply threatens the City, the City may, by resolution, limit the use, times and hours during which water may be used from the City’s water supply system.
