- Silver Lake Water Quality Improvements Project
The City has partnered with the Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District to improve and stabilize a ravine that flows into Silver Lake.
The project is located in northeast Chanhassen, off of Pleasant View Road in Pleasant View Preserve. The project involves ravine stabilization and improvements, including check dams leading into Silver Lake. The check dams will be reinforced with iron enhanced sand filters. As the water filtrates in the check dam, the iron in the sand allows for additional phosphorus removal from the stormwater. A cross section of one of the check dams can be found below.
Additionally, the project would include minor street and stormwater improvements to Pleasant View Road adjacent to the ravine. The overall goal of the project is to stabilize the eroded ravine, reduce phosphorus loading and thus improve the water quality in Silver Lake.
The project is currently in construction phase.
Work has been completed for the season with the vast majority of the required effort being done and traffic control has been picked up. Restoration and remaining punch list work will take place in the spring.
Traffic control will be put in place on 10/15.
